Fine Handcrafted Collapsible Top Hat, pure handwork, a masterpiece

For the brim, a shellac plate is used during production, which is covered on both sides with satin. In a separate step, the crown is lined and also covered with satin. Subsequently, the brim and crown are sewn together. The folding mechanism is realized using a special wire frame, which is incorporated into the crown on each side of the chapeau claque. The frame is under tension. For example, if the hat brim is struck against the palm of a hand, the top hat automatically and completely springs open. It is often mistakenly assumed that it is covered with silk, but this is not suitable for collapsible top hats due to its delicacy; satin is significantly more resistant to weather influences and the folding mechanism.
